Little attention is given to the fact that granulation strongly depends of growth. This means that simply by optimising the conditions for growth granulation can be strongly enhanced. Optimal conditions for growth can be deducted from information of the effect of pH and temperature on the growth rate of Methanosaeta concilii, the key organism in granulation.
